A safe, supportive space to explore emotional challenges, life transitions, and personal growth grounded in clinical mental health counseling and a whole-person approach through the biopsychosocial spiritual lens, psychotherapy offers the opportunity to be heard, gain clarity, and move forward with greater balance and confidence.
Carter Compassionate Care offers both therapy and coaching services, each designed to support different needs.
Therapy is a licensed clinical service that focuses on emotional health, mental well-being, and deeper personal exploration. Psychological assessments and diagnoses are intertwined with this service. It is a service regulated by the state and administered under a licensed supervisor. For this reason Carter Compassionate Care offeres psychotherapy services only in the state of Colorado.
Coaching focuses on lifestyle habits, goal-setting, and practical support for daily routines and wellness in body, mind and soul. Coaching provides access to a network of trusted professionals (Functional Medicine Doctors, Acupuncturists, and Nutritional Response Therapists) and education regarding the details that entail true life balance and wellness—all customized depending upon your needs and goals. Coaching is offered virtually around the world because it is not currently regulated nor does it require a professional license.
Coaching is NOT psychotherapy. Where psychotherapy can be a deep dive into your psyche and an awareness of the root behind mental health challenges, an opportunity for someone to sit with you in your pain and walk alongside you in your life’s journey; integrative health coaching is a microscopic view of current lifestyle including exercise, sleep and dietary habits which paves the way for the collaborative creation of a roadmap to reach your wellness goals. You will receive an impetus to move forward with greater balance and sense of well-being.
No. These services are under completely different contracts. Coaching is not regulated and can be offered to clients around the world. Coaching is not covered under HIPPA and is not a licensed profession. Psychotherapy is a highly regulated profession that must meet specific ethical and legal standards including practicing within the state where the license was issued. Psychotherapy is a deep look into a client’s psyche to treat mental health conditions. Health and Wellness coaching is about current lifestyle, future goals and practical steps for the client to make changes they desire for optimal health and well-being. While the provider maintains current training certifications and mentorship for coaching, coaching is not regulated as professional counseling is.

This stands for Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate. It is a provisional license that is regulated by the state of Colorado. It is given to graduates from a qualified clinical master’s degree program who have passed the jurisprudence examination and have a licensed supervisor. An LPCC therapist meets regularly with an experienced and fully licensed supervisor to offer the best professional treatment for each client and must meet the requirements of the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Also, clients of LPCC therapists are covered by HIPPA. For this reason, psychotherapy is only offered in the state of Colorado in compliance with the rules of the state.
No. Therapy services are currently available to individuals located only in the state of Colorado, in accordance with licensing regulations.
Sessions are currently offered virtually allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space. In person sessions in Colorado Springs will be available by 2027.
Session frequency is determined collaboratively based on your needs and goals. Many clients begin with weekly sessions and adjust over time to bi-monthly or monthly support as progress is made. Usually, 10 sessions provided on a weekly basis is a minimum for experiencing true relief and new hope. Clients with long term chronic conditions may need more.

Therapy at CCC is grounded in clinical mental health counseling and guided by a compassionate, whole-person perspective that is eclectic in nature. Your sessions’ focus depends upon your goals. Evidence-based interventions and techniques supported by an overarching theoretical orientation which fits your needs will be used. Person-Centered therapy is the basis for all CCC interventions though sessions are not purely Rogerian. Attachment theory, emotionally focused theory, cognitive behavioral theory and existentialism as well as some psychodynamic orientation can be used depending upon your needs and preferences. Other modalities which may be drawn upon include Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and the biopsychosocial spiritual model, as well as techniques from Dr. David Grand’s Brainspotting.
The first session, after the free 15 minute discovery call, is an opportunity for you to feel understood as well as a clinical intake. Much like you would use your Maps app to find the best way to reach your destination, the intake session is a time to explore what you want your destination to be and begin planning the best route to get there. You will have a safe space to share your concerns, ask questions, and begin identifying goals for your time in therapy. The pace is gentle and guided by your comfort level.
